5 SIMPLE WAYS TO GET COSY
With temperatures dropping and a general lack of central heating here in Sydney, our homes can feel pretty chilly in Wintertime. There are a few simple things that we can do to make our nests feel more inviting and cosy.
1. Faux-fur
It’s soft, it’s tactile and oh so enticing. Tempt yourself onto your armchair, your rocking chair, any chair, by throwing a faux-rug over it. Yes I said rug. They’re generally designed for the floor but they work just as well on furniture. And the good news is they are readily available at the moment. I picked this one up at K-mart for $19.00. Bargain!
2. Candles
Candles instantly add warmth and ambiance to any room. They are the essence of romance. Their soft glow and hypnotic flickering light somehow calm us. Candles are a must in any snug haven. Natural stone and concrete holders are on trend this year and perfect for a cosy winter look.
3. Cushions
Of course you knew it was coming. Cushions had to be in this list somewhere. And rightly so. Cushions soften a space visually and they literally soften your seat. Get truly comfy-cosy by surrounding yourself with plump, voluptuous cushions.
4. Soft lighting
Forget your overhead lighting…unless you’ve got dimmer switches. Instead turn to your floor lamps and table lamps to create soft pools of light. Combine with your candles to create a cosy atmosphere that will gently relax you and actually prepare you for a better night’s sleep.
5. A great pair of slipper-boots
You can’t underestimate the pleasure you get from slipping your cold tootsies into a pair of fur-lined slipper boots. A winter essential for everyone.
It’s freezing! Go get cosy inside.
